Overview

IST-02 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Isterian Biotech. It acts as an inhibitor of transglutaminase 2 (TGM2), also known as protein-glutamine gamma-glutamyltransferase. TGM2 is implicated in the pathogenesis of fibrotic diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), due to its role in cross-linking proteins within the extracellular matrix and promoting tissue scarring. IST-02 is being investigated for its potential to treat IPF by inhibiting TGM2 activity and thereby reducing fibrosis. The compound is currently in preclinical development[1][3].
