Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**IT-103** is an oral fixed-dose combination of **celecoxib** and **olmesartan** originally developed by IthenaPharma and subsequently acquired by Marina Biotech. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor that provides anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity, while olmesartan is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker used to lower blood pressure. The combination was intended for patients with coexisting arthritis pain and hypertension, with the antihypertensive component intended to address celecoxib-associated edema and cardiovascular-risk considerations. Marina also described development plans for severe pain as a non-addictive opioid alternative and for familial adenomatous polyposis and colorectal cancer through modulation of the beta-catenin and cyclooxygenase-2 axis.
