it-hMSC is an allogeneic, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by Jiuzhitang Maker (Beijing) Cell Technology in collaboration with Stemedica Cell Technologies. These cells are unique in that they are cultured under chronic hypoxic conditions (low oxygen) to simulate the environment of ischemic tissue, a process intended to make them "ischemia-tolerant." This manufacturing approach is designed to enhance the cells' survival, migration, and therapeutic potency upon administration into the low-oxygen environment of an ischemic brain. In the context of ischemic stroke, it-hMSC is administered via intravenous infusion to promote neuroprotection, reduce neuroinflammation, and stimulate angiogenesis and neurogenesis, thereby facilitating functional recovery in patients.
