Overview

iTAG is a reporter gene imaging platform developed by Vellum Biosciences for the non-invasive tracking of cell therapies, such as CAR T cells, in vivo. The system utilizes a modified version of the human dihydrofolate reductase (dHFR) enzyme as a reporter gene, which is expressed by the therapeutic cells. These cells can then be visualized using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or Computed Tomography (CT) imaging following the administration of a matching radiolabeled trimethoprim (TMP)-derived imaging agent. This technology allows for the longitudinal monitoring of cell distribution, expansion, and persistence within the patient, providing critical data on the safety and efficacy of the cell therapy.
