itepekimab

Itepekimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits interleukin-33 (IL-33), a cytokine involved in the initiation and amplification of inflammation. By binding to IL-33, itepekimab prevents its interaction with the ST2/IL-1RAcP signaling complex, thereby blocking downstream inflammatory pathways implicated in chronic respiratory diseases. Itepekimab is being developed primarily for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), where it has shown efficacy in reducing moderate or severe exacerbations among former smokers. It is also under investigation for other respiratory conditions such as chronic rhinosinusitis with and without nasal polyps (CRSwNP/CRSsNP) and non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. The drug was invented using Regeneron's VelocImmune technology and is jointly developed by Sanofi and Regeneron[2][3][4][5][6][8].
