ITGA-2 neutralizing antibody is a therapeutic monoclonal antibody designed to target and inhibit integrin alpha-2 (ITGA-2), a cell surface marker found to be highly overexpressed in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and other high-grade gliomas compared to healthy brain tissue. Developed by researchers at Children's Hospital Boston, the antibody acts by blocking ITGA-2, which has been shown in preclinical studies to significantly reduce the growth and migration of GBM tumor cells. The target ITGA-2 demonstrates higher specificity and expression levels in GBM compared to the established target EGFR, suggesting potential as a more effective therapeutic or diagnostic marker.
