The ITGB2 neoantigen mRNA lipid nanoparticle vaccine is an experimental cancer immunotherapy developed by Sichuan Cancer Hospital for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The vaccine utilizes mRNA encoding a neoantigen derived from the ITGB2 (Integrin Subunit Beta 2) protein, encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for delivery. Its mechanism involves the expression of the ITGB2 neoantigen in dendritic cells to stimulate a specific immune response, particularly the activation of CD4+ T-cells. In clinical research, it is being evaluated for its ability to enhance the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors by promoting an immunologically "hot" tumor microenvironment and increasing tumor-killing activity.
