ITM-23 is a targeted radiopharmaceutical developed by Isotope Technologies Garching (ITM) for the treatment of prostate cancer. It consists of a ligand that specifically targets the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), which is highly expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells, including metastatic lesions. The ligand is conjugated to Terbium-161 (Tb-161), a radioisotope that emits both beta particles and a high density of Auger and conversion electrons. This dual emission profile allows for effective cell killing through DNA damage, particularly in small tumor clusters and micrometastases, while minimizing damage to adjacent healthy tissues. ITM-23 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for patients with prostate cancer.
