itolizumab

Itolizumab is a first-in-class humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that selectively targets CD6, a pan-T cell marker involved in co-stimulation, adhesion, and maturation of T cells. By binding to CD6, itolizumab modulates the activation and proliferation of T lymphocytes, downregulates pro-inflammatory cytokine synthesis (including IFN-gamma, IL‑6, TNF-alpha), and reduces T cell infiltration at sites of inflammation. It is primarily developed for autoimmune diseases such as moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and has also been investigated for graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), COVID‑19-related cytokine release syndrome/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), lupus nephritis, ulcerative colitis, and other immuno-inflammatory conditions. The drug was originally developed by Biocon in collaboration with the Center of Molecular Immunology (CIM) Havana[5][7][10].
