Itrakil Shampoo

Itrakil Shampoo is a topical antifungal formulation developed and marketed by VTS Life Sciences, an Indian pharmaceutical company. The active ingredient is climbazole at a concentration of 1% w/w, which is a small molecule imidazole antifungal agent. Itrakil is specifically indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the scalp and skin, including dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and various tinea infections such as ringworm and athlete's foot. Climbazole works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, which is essential for the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of methylated sterol precursors lead to the disruption of membrane integrity, thereby killing the fungi and stopping their growth. The product is available in India as a prescription shampoo.
