ITV-1 is a therapeutic vaccine and immunomodulator composed of inactivated pepsin fraction (IPF), a purified extract derived from porcine pepsin. It is developed primarily for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and has also been investigated for other indications such as hepatitis C and immune system modulation. The drug acts as an inhibitor of the HIV envelope proteins gp120 and gp41, functioning as both a fusion inhibitor—blocking viral entry into host cells—and an immunostimulant that enhances immune cell activity. Clinical trials have demonstrated improvements in immune indices (including CD3 T, CD4 T, CD8 T cells), reductions in viral load to undetectable levels in some patients, beneficial effects on opportunistic infections associated with AIDS, good compatibility with antiretroviral drugs, and minimal side effects. ITV-1 has also shown potential benefits in other diseases characterized by immune dysfunction or chronic infection[1][2][5][6][7].
