Overview

Implicor is an oral fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy containing ivabradine hydrochloride and metoprolol tartrate. Developed by Servier, it is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in adult patients with normal sinus rhythm who are already controlled with the individual components taken at the same dose levels. Metoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that reduces heart rate and cardiac output, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand. Ivabradine is a selective and specific inhibitor of the cardiac pacemaker If current, which controls the spontaneous diastolic depolarization in the sinoatrial node and regulates heart rate. By combining these two heart-rate-lowering agents with distinct mechanisms, Implicor provides an additive effect on heart rate reduction and anti-ischemic protection.
