Overview

Ivabradine Zentiva is a generic small molecule medication developed by Zentiva for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions. It contains ivabradine hydrochloride, which acts as a selective and specific inhibitor of the cardiac pacemaker *I*f current (the 'funny' channel) in the sinoatrial node. By blocking these channels, the drug reduces the spontaneous diastolic depolarization rate, thereby lowering the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or ventricular repolarization. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in adults with coronary artery disease and for the treatment of chronic heart failure in patients with systolic dysfunction, specifically those in sinus rhythm with an elevated heart rate.
