Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IVB001 is a proprietary oral formulation of tocotrienols, specifically focusing on delta- and gamma-tocotrienol isomers, developed by VGI Health Technology for the treatment of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). The drug candidate utilizes a specialized delivery technology originally developed by Gordagen Pharmaceuticals to enhance the bioavailability of tocotrienols, which are naturally occurring members of the Vitamin E family. IVB001 exerts therapeutic effects through multiple pathways, including the post-translational down-regulation of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines via NF-kB modulation, and anti-oxidative activity. VGI Health Technology is advancing IVB001 into Phase 2 clinical trials, incorporating ENDRA Life Sciences' Thermo Acoustic Enhanced UltraSound (TAEUS) system as a non-invasive tool for monitoring liver fat and assessing treatment response.
