Overview

IVB103 is an adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy developed by InnoVec Biotherapeutics for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Administered as a single intravitreal injection, the therapy delivers a genetic payload to retinal cells, enabling them to continuously produce a protein that inhibits Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). By establishing a "biofactory" within the eye, IVB103 aims to provide long-term suppression of the pathological angiogenesis and vascular permeability that characterize nAMD, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for frequent periodic anti-VEGF injections. It is currently being evaluated in exploratory clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy.
