Overview

IVB104 is an adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy currently in preclinical development by InnoVec Biotherapeutics for the treatment of achromatopsia. The therapy specifically targets mutations in the CNGA3 gene, which encodes the alpha subunit of the cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channel essential for cone photoreceptor function. By utilizing a viral vector to deliver a functional copy of the CNGA3 gene, IVB104 aims to restore cone-mediated vision, potentially addressing symptoms such as impaired color vision, reduced visual acuity, and photophobia. Notably, IVB104 is designed for intravitreal delivery, a less invasive method of ocular administration compared to traditional subretinal injections, which could facilitate broader clinical application and patient access.
