Iverpraz

Iverpraz is a veterinary anthelmintic oral paste developed by Laboratoires Audevard specifically for equine use. It is a combination product containing ivermectin and praziquantel, designed to treat a broad spectrum of internal parasites in horses. Ivermectin, a macrocyclic lactone, acts as an agonist at glutamate-gated chloride channels, leading to increased chloride ion permeability and subsequent flaccid paralysis and death of nematodes and arthropods. Praziquantel, a pyrazinoisoquinoline derivative, targets cestodes (tapeworms) by increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes to calcium ions, which causes rapid contraction and spastic paralysis. This dual-action formulation is indicated for the treatment of mixed infestations of tapeworms, large and small strongyles, lungworms, pinworms, and bots.
