Overview

IVIEW-1502 is an investigational in-situ gel-forming nasal formulation combining povidone-iodine (PVP-I) and budesonide for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Developed by IView Therapeutics in collaboration with Dr. Amin Javer, the formulation is designed as a long-acting nasal spray that utilizes a polysaccharide gel matrix to prolong drug retention in the nasal cavity. Upon contact with nasal mucus ions, the suspension undergoes a solution-to-gel phase transition, which increases residence time and reduces mucociliary clearance. Povidone-iodine acts as a broad-spectrum antiseptic with antibacterial and antifungal properties to address potential infectious components, while budesonide serves as a corticosteroid to reduce underlying inflammation. The drug is primarily intended for use following endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) to improve postoperative healing and endoscopic outcomes in adult patients with CRS.
