Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IVIEW-1701 is an ophthalmic in-situ gel formulation of bromfenac sodium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), developed by IVIEW Therapeutics. It utilizes the proprietary i-Gel technology, a drug delivery platform that transforms from a liquid solution to a gel upon contact with the ocular surface, triggered by factors such as pH, ionic concentration, or temperature. This sustained-release formulation is designed to provide prolonged therapeutic levels of bromfenac in the eye, potentially allowing for once-daily dosing to manage inflammation and pain following ocular surgeries, such as cataract extraction. By inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, IVIEW-1701 reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate the inflammatory response and pain signaling in ocular tissues.
