Overview

IVMED-20 is a bioerodible, sustained-release dexamethasone implant developed by iVeena Delivery Systems for intracapsular placement during cataract surgery. It is specifically designed to treat postoperative pain and inflammation while preventing clinically meaningful retinal thickening in patients at high risk for cystoid macular edema (CME), such as those with diabetes, epiretinal membranes, or retinal vein occlusions. The implant provides a controlled release of dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, directly into the eye to manage the inflammatory response and reduce the need for supplemental topical anti-inflammatory drops. In pilot clinical trials, IVMED-20 has demonstrated the ability to control inflammation and decrease central retinal thickness compared to standard-of-care outcomes.
