Ivolizumab is a bispecific monoclonal antibody designed to simultaneously target programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). By inhibiting the PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint pathway while concurrently blocking VEGF-mediated angiogenesis, the drug aims to enhance anti-tumor immune responses and normalize tumor vasculature. In clinical research, particularly in trials sponsored by Hangzhou Cancer Hospital (such as ChiCTR2500115215), ivolizumab is being evaluated for the treatment of leptomeningeal metastases in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this setting, the drug is administered intrathecally to bypass the blood-brain barrier and directly target neoplastic cells within the cerebrospinal fluid and meninges. The name ivolizumab appears to be a variant or misspelling of the international nonproprietary name (INN) ivonescimab (also known as AK112) used in specific clinical trial registries.
