IVW-1001

IVW-1001 is a novel, water-soluble small molecule that acts as a selective agonist of the transient receptor potential melastatin 8 (TRPM8) channel, which is a cold-sensitive thermoreceptor involved in tear film homeostasis. Developed by iView Therapeutics, IVW-1001 is delivered via an ophthalmic eyelid wipe and is being investigated for the treatment of dry eye disease. By stimulating TRPM8 receptors located in the eyelid margin, IVW-1001 induces a cooling sensation and increases tear secretion, thereby alleviating symptoms of dry eye and potentially neuropathic ocular pain. Clinical trials have demonstrated rapid onset of action (within 5–20 minutes), sustained effects with continued use, and favorable tolerability with mostly mild or moderate adverse events such as ocular irritation[1][2][3][4][5][6].
