Overview

IVX-0142 is a heparin-derived hypersulfated disaccharide that lacks anticoagulant activity but demonstrates anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties in preclinical studies. It has been evaluated as a nebulized therapy for allergic airway responses, particularly in mild atopic asthma. In clinical studies, IVX-0142 showed trends toward reducing both early and late allergic airway responses following allergen challenge, though the effects were small and did not reach statistical significance compared to placebo. The drug was well-tolerated at doses up to 80 mg via nebulization in healthy volunteers[1][2][4]. Its mechanism of action is believed to be related to modulation of inflammatory pathways associated with allergy, but it does not act as an anticoagulant like native heparin.
