Overview

**IVX-411** is a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate developed by Icosavax targeting COVID-19. It displays the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein on the surface of a non-infectious VLP scaffold to elicit neutralizing antibodies against the virus. The vaccine was tested in a Phase 1/2 trial (IVX-411-01) in SARS-CoV-2 naïve and previously vaccinated adults, showing safety and tolerability with mild to moderate adverse events, but immunogenicity was below expectations, comparable to or lower than convalescent sera in naïve subjects and modest boosting in previously vaccinated individuals. Development was halted after identifying instability in the RBD antigen component, specific to this molecule.[1][2][7][10][12]
