Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IXB-322 is a novel, low-dose interferon biologic developed by iX Biopharma for the prevention and treatment of respiratory viral infections, including COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The drug utilizes the proprietary WaferlogiX platform, a specialized version of the WaferiX sublingual delivery technology designed for biologics, to deliver interferon directly to the oral mucosa. This sublingual administration is intended to stimulate a localized and beneficial immune response while bypassing the harsh acidic and enzymatic environment of the gastrointestinal tract. By using a low-dose approach, IXB-322 aims to provide therapeutic efficacy against viral pathogens while avoiding the systemic toxicity and adverse side effects typically associated with high-dose interferon administrations.
