Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Izicopan (formerly known as INF904) is an orally administered small molecule inhibitor of the C5a receptor 1 (C5aR1), also known as the C5a anaphylatoxin chemotactic receptor. Developed by InflaRx, it targets the complement system to provide anti-inflammatory therapeutic effects by blocking C5a-induced neutrophil activation. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development for inflammatory and immunological (I&I) diseases, with a primary focus on hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). Izicopan has demonstrated a favorable safety profile in clinical studies, showing high potency with ≥90% blockade of C5a-induced neutrophil activation and minimal CYP3A4/5 enzyme inhibition without hepatotoxicity signals. The World Health Organization granted the international nonproprietary name 'izicopan' in December 2025.
