Izokibep is a novel small protein therapeutic designed as a high-affinity inhibitor of interleukin-17A (IL-17A), developed for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and hidradenitis suppurativa. Unlike monoclonal antibodies, izokibep is based on Affibody molecules—engineered protein domains that allow for smaller molecular size and enhanced tissue penetration. The drug consists of two IL-17A-specific Affibody domains fused with an albumin-binding domain to extend half-life and improve biodistribution to inflamed tissues. Izokibep binds IL-17A with much higher affinity than existing antibody drugs, selectively neutralizing the cytokine implicated in inflammatory pathways central to these diseases[2][4][5][9]. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy and safety in multiple indications.
