J2H-1702 is a novel, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1), an enzyme that converts cortisone to cortisol and plays a key role in glucose metabolism and inflammation. Inhibition of 11β-HSD1 by J2H-1702 has been shown in preclinical models to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and prevent the development of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Clinical studies have demonstrated that J2H-1702 reduces 11β-HSD1 activity in humans with dose-dependent pharmacokinetics and is well tolerated after single oral administration. The drug is being developed primarily for NASH but has also shown potential for treating pulmonary fibrosis in preclinical models[1][4][5][6][8].
