Jabuticaba leaf gastric digested fraction is a bioactive extract derived from the leaves of the jabuticaba tree (*Myrciaria cauliflora*) that has undergone simulated gastric digestion. This fraction is characterized by a distinct phenolic profile, containing compounds such as 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid and ferulic acid, which are released or transformed during the digestive process. Research indicates that the gastric fraction exhibits potent antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects against hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells, showing higher activity in 3D multicellular tumor spheroid models compared to 2D cultures. Its mechanism of action includes the induction of apoptotic and necrotic cell death, inhibition of cell migration, and antioxidant activity through the reduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. It is primarily being investigated for its potential applications as a nutraceutical in the context of cancer prevention and liver health.
