Jacaranda mimosifolia extract is a botanical preparation derived from the leaves of the Jacaranda tree, currently being investigated for its potential antineoplastic and hepatoprotective properties. Research indicates that the methanolic extract exhibits anti-hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) activity by inducing apoptosis through the upregulation of pro-apoptotic markers like p53 and Bax, while downregulating oncogenic markers such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and glypican-3 (GPC3). Network pharmacology and docking studies suggest that its bioactive components, including apigenin and kaempferol, may target Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2/COX-2), Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), and Matrix Metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9). Additionally, it has demonstrated protective effects against carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury in animal models.
