This investigational immunotherapy product combines Jack Jumper Ant (Myrmecia pilosula) venom with the delta-inulin adjuvant (brand name Advax) for the treatment of Jack Jumper Ant allergy. Developed by the Central Adelaide Local Health Network in collaboration with researchers at the Royal Adelaide and Royal Hobart Hospitals, the product aims to facilitate immune tolerance. Delta-inulin, a polysaccharide-based biologic adjuvant supplied by Vaxine Pty Ltd, exists as semicrystalline microparticles that enhance the immune response. By incorporating this adjuvant, the therapy seeks to achieve protective immune responses (increased IgG4 and decreased IgE) using lower maintenance doses of venom (25 or 50 mcg), thereby reducing the risk of adverse systemic reactions and lowering treatment costs. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 1/2 'JumpVax' clinical trial.
