Jack jumper ant venom immunotherapy (JJA VIT) is a subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy consisting of purified venom from the jack jumper ant (*Myrmecia pilosula*). It is indicated for the prevention of anaphylaxis in individuals sensitized to jack jumper ant venom, which is a leading cause of severe allergic reactions in south-eastern Australia. The immunotherapy works by gradually desensitizing the patient's immune system to the venom's key allergens, such as Myr p 1 and Myr p 3 (pilosulins), thereby reducing the risk of life-threatening IgE-mediated systemic reactions. The treatment was developed by the Tasmanian Jack Jumper Allergy Research Group and is primarily administered through specialized clinical programs, such as that at the Royal Hobart Hospital, under the auspices of the Tasmanian Government.
