Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Janagliflozin is a small molecule sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor developed by Sihuan Pharmaceutical Holdings Group for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Janagliflozin has been approved in China for both monotherapy and combination therapy in type 2 diabetes[3][7]. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in improving glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled with metformin or as monotherapy[1][5].
