Januglutab

Januglutab is an oral antihyperglycemic medication developed and marketed by the South Korean company Sam Chun Dang Pharm for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug contains sitagliptin (specifically sitagliptin hydrochloride hydrate in some formulations), which belongs to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By maintaining higher levels of active incretins, Januglutab stimulates insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control without a high risk of hypoglycemia. It is primarily available as a 50mg oral tablet.
