Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jaozhong formula granule (also referred to as Jiaozhong formula) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Eye Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically investigated for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME), typically as an adjunctive therapy to intravitreal anti-VEGF injections such as conbercept. The formula is designed based on TCM principles to tonify the spleen, drain dampness, and resolve blood stasis, addressing the underlying pathological patterns of fluid accumulation and microcirculatory impairment in the retina. Clinical studies evaluate its efficacy in reducing central macular thickness and improving visual acuity by enhancing the resorption of intraretinal and subretinal fluid beyond the effects of anti-VEGF monotherapy.
