Overview

Japanese cedar allergen tablet is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) designed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis caused by Japanese cedar (*Cryptomeria japonica*) pollen. Developed by ALK-Abelló and marketed in Japan by Torii Pharmaceutical as CEDARCURE, the tablet contains standardized allergen extracts from Japanese cedar pollen. The mechanism of action involves regular sublingual administration to induce immune tolerance, shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic reaction to a Th1/Treg-mediated tolerant state. This process reduces the production of allergen-specific IgE and increases the production of protective IgG4 antibodies, thereby alleviating symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and nasal congestion.
