Japanese encephalitis chimeric virus vaccine is a live, attenuated recombinant viral vaccine designed to prevent infection by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a leading cause of viral encephalitis in Asia. The most widely used formulation, known as Imojev (JE-CV or ChimeriVax-JE), is constructed by replacing the genes encoding two structural proteins (prM and E) of the yellow fever 17D virus with those from an attenuated strain of JEV (SA14-14-2). This design induces protective humoral and cellular immunity against JEV. The primary indication is prevention of Japanese encephalitis in endemic regions or for travelers to these areas. Imojev provides strong initial immunity after a single dose, with seropositivity exceeding 90% up to 10 years post-vaccination, though waning immunity may occur in some individuals over time[2][3][4][5].
