Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JAR-2203 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed to treat hyperlipoproteinemia(a) by lowering elevated levels of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. Developed by Jacobio-Raikang, a cardiometabolic incubator company of Jacobio Pharmaceuticals, JAR-2203 utilizes RNA interference (RNAi) to target and degrade the mRNA of the LPA gene in the liver. This action inhibits the synthesis of apolipoprotein(a), a key component of Lp(a). Elevated Lp(a) is a genetically determined, independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, stroke, and aortic stenosis. JAR-2203 is administered subcutaneously and is currently in Phase I clinical development.
