Overview

JB-101 is an autologous cell therapy consisting of induced inhibitory T cells (iTS) developed by RegCell Co., Ltd., a biotechnology company spun out of Kyoto University. The therapy is designed to induce operational tolerance in patients undergoing living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT), with the ultimate goal of allowing for the complete withdrawal of lifelong immunosuppressive medication. JB-101 cells are generated ex vivo from the recipient's own T cells and are induced to function as regulatory-like cells that suppress the immune system's rejection of the transplanted organ. By reintroducing these specialized cells into the patient, the treatment aims to modulate the immune environment to accept the donor liver as self while preserving the patient's ability to fight infections.
