Overview
JC-106 is a composite probiotic being investigated for its immunomodulatory effects in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). It is designed to reshape the intratumoral microbiome and promote the formation of mature tertiary lymphoid structures (mTLSs), which are associated with improved anti-tumor immunity. Mechanistically, JC-106 increases the colonization of the gut symbiont *Parabacteroides distasonis* and promotes Th17 cell differentiation in a linoleic acid depletion-dependent manner. In clinical and preclinical models, it has been shown to alleviate chemotherapy-induced PD-1 upregulation and synergize with chemotherapy (such as FOX) and anti-PD-1 immunotherapy to enhance treatment efficacy.
