Overview

JD023 is an allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor-modified natural killer (CAR-NK) cell therapy developed by **Beijing Jingda Biotechnology**. It is specifically engineered to target **CD123** (Interleukin-3 receptor subunit alpha), a cell surface protein that is overexpressed in various hematological malignancies, most notably in the blasts and leukemic stem cells of **acute myeloid leukemia** (AML). By utilizing natural killer cells sourced from healthy donors rather than the patient's own T-cells, JD023 functions as an "off-the-shelf" therapeutic, allowing for immediate treatment availability and bypassing the complex manufacturing timelines associated with autologous CAR-T therapies. The therapy leverages the innate cytotoxic potential of NK cells, which is further directed by the CD123-specific CAR to induce selective lysis of malignant cells via the release of perforin and granzymes, while theoretically offering a lower risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD).
