Overview
JECEVAX is an inactivated Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccine developed by VABIOTECH (Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No.1) in Vietnam. It is produced using Vero cell culture technology, representing a second-generation JE vaccine designed to replace older mouse brain-derived formulations like JEVAX. The vaccine contains inactivated Japanese encephalitis virus (typically the Beijing-1 strain) and is intended to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies to prevent Japanese encephalitis, a serious mosquito-borne viral infection of the brain. JECEVAX is administered subcutaneously and has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in clinical trials involving pediatric populations in Vietnam.
