Jellyfish polypeptides are bioactive peptide sequences derived from jellyfish (such as Rhopilema esculentum) currently under clinical investigation for the treatment of advanced, relapsed, or refractory tumors. Developed by the Shanghai Fengxian District Central Hospital, these polypeptides are being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess their safety, efficacy, and impact on the nutritional and immune status of patients with prostate cancer, lung cancer, and hematologic malignancies. While the precise molecular mechanisms are still being elucidated, jellyfish-derived peptides have demonstrated antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and anti-proliferative properties in preclinical models, potentially acting by inducing apoptosis in malignant cells and enhancing host immune responses.
