Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JHL-1 is a biosimilar of adalimumab, a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody. Developed by JHL Biotech, it is designed to neutralize Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) by binding to both soluble and membrane-bound forms of the cytokine. This action prevents TNF-α from interacting with its receptors (TNFR1 and TNFR2) on the surface of immune cells, thereby inhibiting downstream inflammatory signaling pathways, such as NF-κB and MAPK, and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1, IL-6, and IL-8. The development of JHL-1 aims to provide a biosimilar option for the treatment of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases for which adalimumab is indicated.
