Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jia Wei Dachaihu Tang (also known as Modified Dachaihu Decoction or Augmented Major Bupleurum Decoction) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula derived from the classic Da Chai Hu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction). It typically consists of a base of *Bupleurum chinense*, *Scutellaria baicalensis*, *Rheum palmatum*, *Pinellia ternata*, *Citrus aurantium*, *Paeonia lactiflora*, *Zingiber officinale*, and *Ziziphus jujuba*, with additional herbs ("Jia Wei") added to tailor the treatment to specific conditions. The formula is primarily used to harmonize the Shaoyang and Yangming meridians, addressing symptoms of liver and gallbladder stagnation combined with internal heat. Clinically, it is being investigated for its potential to treat metabolic disorders such as obesity and overweight by modulating lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity, as well as for its efficacy in preventing the recurrence of hepatolithiasis and managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
