Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jian Xue Fei (见血飞) is a traditional Chinese and Miao ethnic herbal medicine primarily derived from the root or root bark of *Toddalia asiatica* (also known as Feilong Zhangxue), *Zanthoxylum dimorphophyllum var. spinifolium*, or *Mezoneuron cucullatum*. It has been used for centuries in folk medicine to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, alleviate pain, dispel wind-dampness, and stop bleeding. Pharmacological studies indicate that its active constituents, which include coumarins (such as isopimpinellin, pimpinellin, and toddalolactone) and alkaloids (such as magnoflorine), exhibit anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hemostatic, and antitumor properties. It is commonly used to treat traumatic injuries, bruises, rheumatic arthritis, fractures, and various bleeding disorders. It is also an ingredient in proprietary Chinese medicine formulations such as Shangkeling Spray (developed by Huadong Medicine) for the topical treatment of joint pain and osteoarthritis.
