Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiangtang Tiaozhi is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation developed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with dyslipidemia. It is based on the theory of "ointment turbidity" in traditional Chinese medicine and was formulated by Professor Tong Xiaolin. The prescription is derived from Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Decoction and typically contains herbs such as Coptidis rhizoma and Cinnamomi cortex. Clinical studies suggest that it can reduce glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, blood lipids (cholesterol/triglycerides), body weight, waist circumference, and improve insulin resistance in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes combined with dyslipidemia. Mechanistically, it appears to act via multi-target regulation of metabolic pathways including fatty acid degradation and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis[7][4]. It is administered orally as a granule or decoction.
