Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiangtang Xiaozhi (also known as JXR or JTXZC) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCM) formula developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Administered as a capsule, this multi-herb botanical compound is primarily indicated for the management of impaired glucose tolerance (prediabetes) and mild type 2 diabetes mellitus. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the modulation of glucose and lipid metabolism, reduction of insulin resistance, and antioxidant activity. Clinical evaluations have focused on its efficacy in glycemic control and its potential benefits in treating diabetic retinopathy and dyslipidemia. It has been evaluated in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials in adults managed with diet and exercise alone.
