Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiangwei Anzhong Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Fangshan Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), specifically the 'liver stomach stasis heat' syndrome. The decoction is designed to regulate stomach qi and clear heat. Clinical evaluation involves assessing its impact on brain–gut peptides, such as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), which play roles in gastrointestinal motility and esophageal sphincter function. In clinical trials, it is compared against proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole to evaluate its efficacy in reducing GERD symptoms, improving TCM syndrome scores, and alleviating comorbid anxiety and depression.
