Jianling Decoction (Jianling Tang) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula originally described by Zhang Xichun in the "Records of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Combination." It is specifically indicated for "Wind Yang Floating Upwards" syndrome, a TCM pattern often associated with hypertension and the acute or recovery phases of ischemic stroke. The formula typically contains Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Huai Niuxi), Haematitum (Dai Zhe Shi), Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Di Huang), and other sedative and yin-nourishing herbs. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated for its ability to modulate the gut microbiota-gut-brain axis, potentially reducing neuroinflammation and improving neurological outcomes following cerebral ischemia.
